Music has the Power to connect us all: Ostar
Ola Media World: Good evening
Ostar: Good evening my brother
Ola Media World: This is Ola Media World can meet you?
Ostar: Nice to meet you, Ola Media World! I'm Oladipupo Simeon, popularly known as Ostar. I'm a musician, and I'm excited to be here chatting with you today!
Ola Media World: Why Music ?
Ostar: For me, music is more than just a passion or a hobby – it's my life's purpose. I believe music has the power to inspire, to heal, and to bring people together like nothing else can.
Growing up, music was always a big part of my life. I was that kid who was always singing along to the radio, trying to harmonize with my favorite artists. As I got older, I started to realize that music wasn't just something I enjoyed – it was something I was good at, too.
But what really drives me to make music is the desire to share my story, my experiences, and my emotions with others. I believe that music has the power to connect us all, to make us feel less alone in this crazy world.
So, for me, music isn't just about making a living or achieving fame – it's about leaving a mark, making a difference, and touching hearts. That's why I do what I do.
Ola Media World: If you ever get to meet any musician who will it be?
Ostar: Nigerian?
Ola Media World: Yes Nigerian…
Ostar: Wizkid, Burna, Davido, Badoo, name it.... They have set a landmark for us and I'll appreciate it if I meet them one day
Ola Media World: You talked about your story, can you share your story?
Ostar: Growing up in a humble beginning, life wasn't always easy. But despite the challenges, music was always my escape, my passion, and my dream. I remember performing at free shows without being appreciated, it was tough to put my heart and soul into my music, only to feel like it wasn't valued.
Another challenge I faced was a lack of funds. As an upcoming artist from a humble background, I didn't have the financial resources to invest in my music. It was hard to make ends meet, and there were times when I felt like giving up.
But the biggest challenge of all was being looked down upon by others. There were people who doubted my abilities, who thought I wasn't good enough, and who believed I would never make it in the music industry.
Despite these challenges, I refused to give up on my dreams. I kept pushing forward, and I surrounded myself with people who believed in me and my music. Slowly but surely, things started to fall into place, and I began to see progress in my career.
Looking back, I realize that those challenges were actually blessings in disguise. They taught me to be resilient, to persevere, and to believe in myself, even when no one else did.
Ola Media World: You just graduated from the University of Ibadan, how were you able to cope with school and music?
Ostar: It wasn't easy, I must say! As a student, I had to balance my academic responsibilities with my passion for music.
To be honest, it was a bit of a struggle at first. I had to juggle attending classes, studying for exams, and working on my music. There were times when I felt overwhelmed, and I had to make sacrifices in order to keep up with both my studies and my music.
But I was determined to make it work. I prioritized my tasks, managed my time effectively, and made sure to stay focused on my goals. I also had to learn to say "no" to certain opportunities or commitments that might have conflicted with my academic or music responsibilities.
My support system was also crucial in helping me cope. My family, friends, and colleagues were all very understanding and encouraging. They helped me stay motivated and focused, even when things got tough.
And, of course, I had to make time for my music. I would perform at campus events and shows. It was a great way to express myself, relieve stress, and connect with others who shared my passion for music.
Overall, it wasn't always easy, but I'm proud of myself for being able to balance my studies and my music. It's a skill that I'll carry with me for the rest of my life, and I'm grateful for the experience.
Ola Media World: What was your breaking point last year,
What make you realize it was music or nothing else?
Ostar: My breaking point last year... It's a moment that's still etched vividly in my memory. To be honest, I was at a crossroads, feeling lost and uncertain about my future. I had been pursuing music for a while, but I wasn't seeing the progress I had hoped for. I was starting to doubt myself, wondering if I was good enough, if I was talented enough.
But then, something shifted inside of me. I realized that music wasn't just something I loved, it was something I needed. It was my therapy, my escape, my passion. And I knew that I couldn't imagine my life without it.
That's when I decided to take a leap of faith and focus on my music full-time. It wasn't an easy decision, but it was one that I knew I had to make.
And then, everything changed for good when I dropped "Hennessy". The response was overwhelming, and it was like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I finally felt like I was on the right path, like I was doing what I was meant to do.
From that moment on, I knew that music was it for me. It was my calling, my purpose, my everything. And I've never looked back since.
Ola Media World: On your record Ohema it seems to be the best selling song out there, what will you say about that?
Ostar: I'm still in awe of the response to "Ohema"! To see it doing well on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, and Audiomack is a huge encouragement for me as an upcoming artist.
I'm grateful to everyone who has listened to and shared my music. It means a lot to me to know that my songs are resonating with people. I'm still working hard to build my career and share my music with a wider audience, so this kind of support is invaluable.
Ola Media World: Any project on ground?
Ostar: I'm excited to share that I've been working on my debut EP, "Path to Greatness", and it's dropping very soon! This project is really special to me, and I've put my heart and soul into it.
