Ola entertainment blog: Hello. This is Ola entertainment blog. Can we meet you?

 Savvy: Hi  I’m John Oluwayimika Odo, popularly known as Savvy.  I’m a Singer/ Songwriter and Music Producer

Ola entertainment blog: Your family and educational background?

Savvy: I was born  into a family of 4, i was born in Ibadan, Oyo state which is where I spent my childhood primary & early stages of my secondary education after which we moved to abuja and eventually Lagos.  I’m a 300level student of the Nation open university of Nigeria where I study Entrepreneurship & Business management

Ola entertainment blog: Your journey into the music industry?

Savvy: Music for me has always been a huge part of my life, i was born into a religious family where there was always singing in the house, my dad once being a choir master and my mom also was in the church choir at some point so there was that strong connection to music although it was something I thought of doing until much later as i grew older and the love & passion for it got stronger, i was constantly drawn to it, wherever i heard singing or music I’d want to be there and be part of it

Ola entertainment blog: You mentioned earlier that you are also called Savvy. Is that your stage name? 

If yes, how did you get the name? 

Savvy: Yes, Savvy is my stage name, it was quite a journey to eventually arrive at that name, I started off being Lil John Wizzy back when i tried to rap lol then i was later called IQ and then Savvy. The name savvy came in 2019 when i had dropped a song titled MORE and we discovered another artist with the same name who also had a song called more and so we had to rebrand and change my name. The name Savvy was suggest by my colleague Draco Bangz who is also a producer and we were looking for alternatives to IQ when we checked for synonyms and eventually concluded on Savvy. I was also using these names because I consider myself a genius 

Ola entertainment blog: Apart from music/song writing, what else do you do?

 Savvy: A lot, a whole lot, I don’t limit myself, i like to spread my tentacles and be everywhere I possibly can. I’m a part time realtor, car dealer, voice over artist, event planner, marketer and the list goes on and on.

Ola entertainment blog: How are you combining Music and schooling?

Savvy: My being in Noun has made it possible to school and work at the same time which is something i was worried about before but its all good now and so far its been going smoothly

Ola entertainment blog: What motivates you?

Savvy: I’d say my quest for success, it’s gotta be my biggest motivation, it’s the reason i never stop and I always want to do more, i guess I’m a goal getter

 Ola entertainment blog: Any challenges so far?

Savvy: So far I’d say the major challenge has been to create awareness and get people familiar with my music and sound

Ola entertainment blog: Do your parents support your dreams?

Savvy: At all! both my parents are strong leaders in the church and have kicked against it from the beginning

Ola entertainment blog: Who is your role model?

Savvy: I doubt i have one, i look up to any and everybody that has made it in this field of ours (The Entertainment Industry).

Ola entertainment blog: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

 Savvy: I see myself topping charts, private flights 

 Ola entertainment blog: Your advice to the youths out there

Savvy: To be consistent and never stop dreaming. Also to look out for opportunities and be humble.
