In an exclusive interview with Ola Entertainment Blog Rufus Sopuruchi explained how she became the current miss unec and how it has helped her developed
Olasunkanmi: Good evening
Rufus Sopuruchi: Good evening to you
Olasunkanmi: Can we meet you
Rufus Sopuruchi: My name is Miss Sopuruchi Rufus a 300level law student of the University of Nigeria and the current Miss UNEC. I'm from IMO State.
Olasunkanmi: How did u come about that position miss unec
Rufus Sopuruchi: Oh we normally host this UNEC night during our SUG week. One of the activities includes Mr and miss UNEC. I contested amongst five ladies and won
Olasunkanmi: Wow... Cool
Olasunkanmi: Did u have any intention of contesting before the event
Rufus Sopuruchi: Well I contested for my faculty and didn't win. I came second place but I didn't relent and decided to go further
Olasunkanmi: Good that shows ur unrelenting attitude.
Olasunkanmi: Was there any challenges during the pageantry show
Rufus Sopuruchi: Well sort of. I had down moments sometimes. The fear of losing was there often but with the help of friends I surpassed it. And then finance too but again I had helped from friends and well wishers.
Olasunkanmi: When u finally won what came to ur mind
Rufus Sopuruchi: I was happy. I felt fulfilled because I had put in so much work.
Olasunkanmi: Any project you have done as miss unec?
Rufus Sopuruchi: Well quite a few, yes.
Olasunkanmi: Can we know about them
Rufus Sopuruchi: Oh sure
Rufus Sopuruchi: 1. I hosted a social media initiative called UNEARTH. I aided UNEC'S students showcase their handiwork and crafts online
2. I started up a campaign called R. A. W. It stands for respect a woman. It was Basically a movement against female gender inequality and all sorts of violence
3. Then I conducted an essay writing competition for secondary school students.
Rufus Sopuruchi: And another for my fellow university Undergraduates.
Olasunkanmi: what is your advice to the youths out there
Rufus Sopuruchi: My advise to them is that, Now is the time to make a difference not necessarily when you're on too of the world. With any resource try your best to make an impact around you because that's the essence of life. Lastly they should cultivate the attitude resilience and perseverance because nothing good comes easy.
