Let’s Talk!! Is Mayorkun Ripe Enough For A Debut Album?
After dropping his first single and apparently first hit in 2016, it all seemed like he was just lucky to get signed to one of the biggest label in the music industry and also rode smoothly on the influence of his label boss Davido.
To prove many doubts, Mayorkun’s music career continued to rise above how it started. In 2017, the singer churned out more than one hit songs like “Sade”, “Mama”, “Che Che” despite the heavy-wave of his label boss Davido, who apparently took all the glory in the music industry that year with classic hits.
In the space of two years, it is safe to say that Mayorkun already has all the awards any young and promising act should have acquired. He’s got the Headies Rookie and Next Rated, Nigeria Entertainment Award for Best New Act as well as City People Most Promising Act.
Towards the end of 2017, Mayorkun pulled a giant stride by staging his first ever music concert at an early stage of his music career. After shutting down about 30 institutions, he rounded off with “Mayor Of Lagos” concert at Hard Rock Cafe in Lagos.
Mayorkun’s growth in the music industry also re-surfaced at his just-concluded Concert in Ibadan, the singer was able to pull about 13,000 people to make the show sold-out.
Meanwhile, word-for-word chanting of his songs by over 40,000 fans at the recently held Wireless Concert UK is another reflection of how much Mayorkun is respected internationally.
However, earlier this year, Mayorkun announced the coming of his debut album. According to him, the album will be released sometime this year.
Considering the poor album culture in recent times and the career lifespan of the artiste in question, it is not clear whether a debut album from Mayorkun this year is reasonably necessary. Let’s not forget that Korede Bello’s career died after “Beloved” album in 2017.
Do You Think Mayorkun Should Still Continue To Make More Marks In The Industry Before Dropping Album?
